If you need some entertainment for the kids, or if you fancy a bit of action yourself, why not take a trip to Loro Parque - an animal adventure park and one of the biggest attractions in the Canary Islands.
If you like a nice walk, you should pay a visit to Taoro Park. This is within walking distance from Puerto de la Cruz, although it is a bit of a climb. However, once you have reached the park, you are rewarded with a panoramic view across the town. This large park of around 100,000 square metres features a wide variety of huge trees that provide welcome shade on a hot summer's day, a multitude of beautiful fragrant flowers, as well as fountains and waterfalls. And in case you get a little hungry or thirsty from the exercise, there is also a bar and a restaurant where you can take a break and refuel.
Lago Martianez is a large complex of salt-water swimming pools with floating islands, which was designed by the famous local artist Cesar Manrique. It is definitely worth a visit! A great place to relax during the day, it also offers some evening entertainment in the form of an underground casino.
